The old Blue Gem Turquoise Mine is near Battle Mountain Nevada. Although it is now closed, when in production it yielded a range of some of the most intense blues to deep green combos with hard irregular matrix. The mine is now closed and the turquoise is highly desirable and highly collectible.
I have a very nice selection of cabs that were cut in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the late sixties and early seventies. One of which you see in the awesome hand carved bone horse head pendant. I set off the Blue Gem stone with some twist wire and offset with a couple of rosettes. This stallion I named Maximillian the Magnificent! And I think he is definitely a magnificent specimen.
The horse head is hand carved bone and pretty. It was hand carved in China. It is truly the Blue Gem Turquoise that gives this pendant value. Maximillian is 2-1/2" long by about 1" at the widest point and weighs in at 23.8 grams. Let your spirit run free!!!
