One of my fascinations is the china that the Railroads used for service in their dining cars. The pattern in this pendant is from the "Mimbreno" Series made by Syracuse China and very strictly supervised by Mary Coulter of the Santa Fe, who is credited with this patterns invention. The pattern was to commemorate the ancient Mimbres Indians of New Mexico. The china was used in service from 1937 - 1970. Although there is currently a reproduction line of this china, the china I use is from the original service.
Since the original china as a whole is highly collectible, I only use pieces out of broken dishes. Featured in this piece is one of the animals from the service. This is the turkey or at least part of the turkey!!! I was lucky to happen upon this piece as the animals from the service are hard to come by. The pendant is 1-1/2" x 1-5/8".
It's a fun piece and would definitely turn an eye or two. Got Turkey???
PLEASE NOTE - The neck wire is sold separate.
My hallmark, which stands for “Buffalo-Eagle”, my name, Lita and STERLING is stamped on the back-side of the piece.
