The piece of china featured in this pendant is from the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad China - Known as The Santa Fe Railroad. Mary Coulter of the Santa Fe, who is credited with this patterns invention, from the Mimbreno Series made by Syracuse China very strictly supervised this pattern. The pattern was to commemorate the ancient Mimbres Indians of New Mexico and the china was served on by the Santa Fe from 1937 to 1970. As a whole piece, the china is high dollar as it is highly collectible. The pieces in this pendant are from a piece of broken china from an ice cream dish.
And what a great looking pendant it is, a beautiful butterfly waiting to land on your neck! I chose serrated bezel to surround the pieces of china, which features some of the geometric patterns used in the series. I used two pieces of genuine turquoise for the body as well as some handmade silver balls. For the antennae, I used some sterling wire, shaped it and then hammered it flat and also soldered that to the back plate. Also featured is my high polish technique – nice and shiny!
Truly one of a kind!
The pendant 1-5/8” (41 mm) by 2” (51 mm). The sterling chain length is 18”.
My hallmark, which stands for “Buffalo-Eagle”, my name, Lita and STERLING is stamped on the back-side.
