The pieces of china I used for this pair of unusual earrings that I designed and handmade are from the Western Pacific Railroad dining car china – the Feather River Pattern series, made by Shenango China in the Inca Ware - Tan, New Castle, Pennsylvania. The china was produced from 1947 - 1949. Most of the railroad china available today is highly collectible. The china pieces I use in my designs are from broken china.
The earrings are 1-3/4” long from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the earring and are about 9/16” at the widest (45 mm by 14 mm). I coiled sterling silver wire and hammered it flat and soldered it to the backside of the earring extending it to make the ear wire part of the design.
My hallmark, which stands for “Buffalo-Eagle”, my name, Lita and STERLING is stamped on the back side of each piece. Also featured is my high polish technique – nice and shiny.
