The gaspeite stones in this ring are from Western Australia. I got hooked on going green a long time ago.... ;-)
Anyways, I chose to set two stones in this spectacular ring - back to back and did a little fancy stamping around the lip of the silver. I melted silver into little balls to make three raindrops - flattened them out a little and soldered them on to separate the two stones.
The face of the ring measures about 1-1/2" long by about 3/4" wide. The shank/band tapers from 1/2" at the top to about 3/8" at the bottom. As you can see in the photo, I also chose to hand stamp the edges of the band. Size 7-3/4.
Now back to Gaspeite - it is the product of nickel mines. On the Moh's Scale of Hardness - it ranges between 4-5. The scale goes from 1 - 10. 1 - Talc and 10 - Diamond.
Since this 4-5 is medium scale, probably best not to emerge the stones in any type of liquid, chemicals of any kind and certainly you don't want to be banging it around.
My hallmark, which stands for “Buffalo-Eagle”, my name, Lita and STERLING is stamped on the inside of the ring shank.
